Editorial Policy

At GlucoHarbor, our goal is to provide accurate, evidence-based health information that empowers people managing diabetes, prediabetes, and related conditions. This page explains how we create, review, and maintain our content.

How We Research

Every article published on GlucoHarbor is grounded in current scientific literature and clinical guidelines. Our research process follows a consistent framework:

  • Primary sources first. We prioritize peer-reviewed studies, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses from databases such as PubMed, Cochrane Library, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
  • Clinical guidelines. Where applicable, we reference guidelines from the American Diabetes Association (ADA), World Health Organization (WHO), the American Heart Association (AHA), and the Endocrine Society.
  • No conflicts of interest. Editorial decisions are made independently of our advertising and affiliate relationships. Sponsored content is always clearly labeled and kept separate from editorial content.
  • Informational purposes only. GlucoHarbor content does not constitute medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making changes to your treatment plan.

How We Update Articles

Medical knowledge evolves. We are committed to keeping our content current and clinically accurate.

  • Scheduled reviews. Articles covering rapidly evolving topics — such as drug approvals, ADA Standards of Care, and CGM technology — are reviewed at least annually or when major guideline updates are published.
  • Triggered updates. If new research significantly changes the evidence base for a topic, or if a reader flags outdated information, we prioritize an expedited review.
  • Update labeling. Each article displays an "updated" date so readers can gauge the currency of the information.
  • Version transparency. Substantive changes to medical recommendations within an article are noted at the top of the page, summarizing what changed and why.

Corrections Policy

We take factual accuracy seriously. If we publish an error, we correct it promptly and transparently.

  • Minor corrections (typographical errors, broken links, formatting issues) are fixed immediately without a public notice.
  • Factual corrections (incorrect statistics, outdated drug dosages, misattributed study findings) are corrected and accompanied by a clearly labeled correction notice at the top of the article stating what changed and when.
  • Retractions. In rare cases where an article is found to be substantially inaccurate and cannot be adequately corrected, it will be retracted. A retraction notice will remain in place of the original content.

To report an error, email us at editorial@glucoharbor.com with the article URL and a description of the issue. We aim to respond within 5 business days.

Sources Policy

We cite our sources so readers can verify our claims and explore topics further.

  • Source hierarchy. We rank sources in this order: (1) peer-reviewed research, (2) major clinical guidelines, (3) government health agencies (CDC, NIH, FDA), (4) established medical institutions, (5) expert commentary. We avoid relying solely on news articles or press releases.
  • Recency. We avoid citing studies older than 10 years unless they represent landmark research that has not been superseded. When older sources are used, this is noted.
  • Affiliate and product content. Product reviews may contain affiliate links. These links never influence which products we recommend or how we describe them. Product selection is based on evidence, user feedback, and objective criteria.
